Post-Trade Advice Needed (WHIR)

Postby VitiumCloud » Thu Jun 02, 2011 2:00 pm

Hey, I made a ton of trades... here is the new team:

It's a nine team, 6 x 6 league; .avg, .ops, steals, hr, runs & rbi + wins, k, holds, saves, whip, era. 108 points possible, I'm in first place with 98.5 points.

Catcher - Victor Martinez
First - Mark Trumbo
Second - Dustin Pedroia
Third - Alex Rodriguez
SS - Alexi Ramirez
OF - Carlos Gonzalez
OF - Jay Bruce
OF - Curtis Granderson
Util - Mike Stanton
Util - Matt Joyce
Bench - Grady Sizemore, Logan Morrison, Alex Gordon
DL - Pablo Sandoval

SP - Clayton Kershaw, Justin Verlander, Jamie Garcia, Liriano, Anibal Sanchez, Mat Latos, Bud Norris
RP - Aaron Crow, JJ Putz, Mariano Rivera, Matt Caps, Johnny Venters
DL - Jonathan Broxton, Brandon Lyon

My first priority is to get someone better for first base. I traded away Miggy but I stacked my outfield in return. I'm trying to trade ARod for Howard or Konerko since Gordon has third base eligibility... They might take it straight up, but I have a feeling I'll have to offer more for Howard, to make the sell. I don't know if it is worth over-paying for, because I have Sandoval coming back (first base eligible). Wrist injuries are bad for hitting, so it could be a gamble. What are some other thoughts as well?

I think you're right on track, but, looking for SS help might not be a bad idea. Maybe you could do LoMo for Rollins or someone like that? Other than that, the team looks good. Solid pitching, stud relievers, and a decent offense that could maybe use a bit more pop.

Thanks for your help on my Hanley question.

Thanks for the help on mine.

I would definitely try ARod for Howard straight up and see what happens. But I would also try to deal LoMo for a Castro or Rollins type. Otherwise your team looks fine...

I would trade ARod for Howard but not for Konerko. Your team looks good and I think you are right on track for where you need to improve. If you can't get HOward I would just take a chance with Pablo for now since the rest of your team is strong.

thanks for your help with mine but could you maybe help me with a different offer?

Alexi Ramirez is #3 Yahoo SS right now, and a good bet to finish top five for the position, so I wouldn't even consider giving up any value to get another SS.... He's on pace to finish better than Tulo. The only three SS even worth looking at are Cabrera, Reyes and Tulo, and the improvement would be negligible compared to what I would have to give up. I'm a huge HanRam suporter, but I have written off this season for him. Also, I would put money on Ramirez having a better season than Rollins... and thats with Yahoo's algorithm that hugely overvalues steals.

Had Castro but traded him, decided Ramirez was more likely to have the better season... Castro can hit well, but his numbers aren't spectacular in any other category, where as Ramirez is bringing a little of everything to the plate.

Your team is pretty stellar. If you can grab an upgrade at 1b, you will be golden!

Grab Hosmer if hes still available. If not keep a close eye on Anthony Rizzo. Trumbo isn't terrible and Howard is overrated. Also you gotta admit, Pablo looked pretty damn good before he hurt his wrist. I would wait and see how he does before making any big moves.

Yeah I would either attempt to get Hosmer or trade A Rod for Howard straight up.

Thanks for the help on mine.
