Non-Blockbuster Deal Help

Postby bmmac27 » Thu Jun 02, 2011 8:31 am

Give Wieters $2/1yr
Get League $1/1yr

Renewals are double, so next year would be $4 for mat and $2 for League

Santana is my other catcher and current source of saves is Farnsworth and Capps

On the surface I think one of the highest talked about prospects is worth more than a closer, which are notoriously shaky. Thoughts?

Thanks to soty for the sig, the sickest.

Depends on team needs. Can you gain a significant amount of points if you acquired 10-15 more saves on the year? Is this a two catcher league?

Yeah he was def one of the highest "talked about" prospects...could end up being one of the highest "talked about" busts too...

That being said, I think you could get better for him. At least a more solid RP if that's what you are looking for.

I think that is about fair value for Wieters. He was a big time prospect in 2009 but he has done little to show us that he going to be anything but a mid-level catcher. So while I do like him, League has been a very solid closer (outside of 1 week) and should keep the job the rest of the year. I am not sure you can expect to get much more for Wieters. I would take this deal.
