Should Propose This For M.Young/C.Carpenter?

Postby Rmbxr9 » Thu Jun 02, 2011 5:25 am

18 Team Points

Carpenter has looked better his last few starts, I think he turns it around at some point.
Gets more run support...

I currently have Rolen and S.Rodriguez at 3B
OF: McCutchen, Cruz, Rios, Werth, Eric Young JR, S.Rodriguez, Colvin

I Give: Werth, Rolen, Hellickson

I Get: M.Young, C.Carpenter

We play strikeouts as negatives by the way, so there's plenty of 0-4, 2Ks (-2 Point) days for Werth.
Don't really care about Rolen, more of a throw-in for 3B coverage.

Should I propose this?
Should I expect it to be accepted?

If you really like it, then it will be accepted. I see Hellickson/Carpenter as close at this point, with Carp on a downslide of a career and Hellickson on the upswing, they basically meet in the middle this season. Werth and M. Young can be seen as a wash if it helps you to see it that way, and like you said, throwing in Rolen means nothing. The cog in this trade is the Hellickson/Carp part. I like Hellickson significantly over Carpenter. Based on your post, you disagree. My job here is not to dissuade you from your thoughts on Carpenter, so if you feel like he will rebound, then this is a solid trade.

I think it's a fair deal and I like your end slightly better. You are right, Carpenter will turn it around a bit. Just be aware his last two starts were against SD and SF.

I think what we see now from Werth is basically what you are going to get. He's not under-performing by much.
