I'm really lacking a second truly reliable pitcher and I would be able to start Gordon at 3B due to his dual eligibility if I did make the trade. Do you think this trade improves my team? Will be offense be able to survive without Beltre? Thanks.

I like your secondary pitchers but if you're desperate for another top guy that trade might make sense.

Not too much there........ I hate trading bats for pitchers. If you move Gordon to 3B, who is moving to the OF spot?

Heyward when he returns from the DL. Or I could even keep Gordon in the OF and take a flyer on someone like Lawrie when he gets called up. In addiiton, there are a few names on the WW that could be fine for my OF. Is this trade any better for me if I send Phillips instead of Beltre?

I guess it just matters what the other team needs. I just don't like trading bats for pitchers in one for one deals. I value bats more.

With as many pitchers as you have, I would most definitely NOT trade a bat for an arm. The surplus of pitchers doesn't really give you much to trade with, and you definitely want to hold on to all of your bats since your space is limited. If you can trade 2 pitchers for one, then do so. Otherwise, just watch the wire...

But definitely, I would not do that trade if I were you.

when Heyward returns you're going to have to replace someone else. I'm not sure I would want to lose Beltre and replace him with Gordon. Gordon has been good, but I'd rather not have him as your only 3B option just in case he slumps.
maybe a better option would be one of your 2B, Hill or Phillips. you could move one of them and use the other at 2B.
ideally you could package one of your 2B along with one of the lower tier starts to get a better SP. I'd trade McClellan. I don;t trust him to last the entire season as a starter coming off seasons as a reliever. if not McClellan, maybe Zimmerman who I imagine will be on an IP limit as the season goes on.
if you do want Hanson, I do think it would take someone like Beltre. Hanson is that good.

If you really want an arm for your bat. You could probably do better than Hanson with Beltre. At least aim for someone in the level of Verlander/Hamels.
