Seeing how well Beckett's done this year, does anyone think he could possibly sustain it and have a great 2011? He's been on/off his whole career and seems to do well every other odd year.
I'm lacking an ace in my pitching rotation at the moment with Weaver not getting run support and Ubaldo's struggling.
If I were to make a move for Beckett, would offering Nolasco + Adrian Beltre be too much of an offer? I can afford to lose Beltre by using Bautista in 3B while waiting for Zimmerman to come back in few weeks.
Here's my squad:
SP: Weaver, Ubaldo, Chacin, Garcia, Dan Hudson, CJ wilson, Nolasco RP: Marmol, Street, Feliz, Madson
C Montero 1 MCab 2 Pedroia 3 Beltre SS Rollins OF Bautista OF Bruce OF Ellsbury Util Crawford BN Konerko BN Choo DL Zimmerman
I like trying to get rid of Nolasco, but Beltre is too much for Beckett. 3B has been a shallow position this year with lots of injuries. You take Bautista out of the 3B eligibility and Beltre is top 2 easily.

I'd like to think I'm selling Beltre on a high. Longoria is back. Zimm's coming back in few weeks. No way Beltre is top 2 rest of the season in my opinion. He's also very streaky and he'll go straight to my bench when Zimm comes off DL. I much prefer Konerko on Util as he's a pure hitter with higher average.
I do need an ace. I can't afford to trade Ubaldo and having Beckett in the rotation will allow me a longer leash on Ubaldo before someone comes in to buy low from me.

Well, if you want to sell for Beckett go ahead. A top 20 player last year and top 40 player this year, and now with Cruz and Hamilton healthy, I only see rising. Must be nice to consider him a bench player. If I had Beckett I would jump all over that.

You're right, it's a nice problem to have. I've been trying to trade Beltre for as high as possible, but Beckett is the ceiling it seems...
I'll be overloaded at 3B when Zimm comes off DL and if I have to choose between Zimm and Beltre, I'd go with Zimm everytime. Meanwhile I have Bautista who can go to 3B and allows me to use Bruce/Ellsbury/Crawford in OF.
The biggest problem is this: When Zimm comes off DL I have to drop someone to make room. I might as well make a 2 for 1 trade that opens up room for Zimm while I can. Right?
