I posted last night about dropping Soria 4 Salas, was convinced to keep Soria and dump J.Damon instead...D'OH. anyways, now that Crow has been named new closer...should I just go ahead and cut Soria for him? Still no real word that its an injury Soria is dealing with (ANYONE HEARD ANYTHING ON THIS?), or else Id wait till they DL'd him.
cut Soria for Crow?
we have very small benches (5 total, but only 3 are flexible since 2 are needed for SPs)
leave a link, I promise to WHIR
check our roster setup - we have only 2 SP, 1 RP & 1 P slot...so the SP/RP closer is super valuable

is Callapso important to have on your roster? I would definitely want to add Crow, I'm just not sure I would want to drop Soria to do it. Soria could still end up getting more saves the rest of the season than Crow. I don't think anyone would have expected Soria to lose his job this season. I haven't heard whether Soria has any type of injury or whether he is just off this season. if given a break Soria can get back to where he was, I wouldn't be surprised to see KC give him the closers role back.
I just picked up Crow as well. However, I'd actually still hold onto Soria in the meantime because I just cant see them taking away his job for the entire season. I'd still go with the damon drop!
FNK - yes Callaspo fills a role as my 4th INF, and i have been starting him over Walker a lot lately. until Zim comes back I want to hold on to 4 INF to cover 2B-3B-SS so i can fill Mon/Thurs holes, bench someone slumping (walker) or simply fill in when Peralta gets his weekly day off.
ruffus - I already dropped Damon for Salas early today. now am wondering whether to drop Soria for Crow & earn the favorable 3rd closer
ALL - we have VERY-VERY small benches, essentially 3 slots after burning 2 just to keep a normal SP rotation, so using 1 of my 3 bench slots to wait out Sorias possible re-emergence...well, it doesnt make much sense.
Basically it's your call. If you've been watching the games and really feel that Soria has been legitimately sucking, then drop him. However, if I were in your position, I would prefer to drop Collapso at this point because he is very replaceable and it's hard to believe that one of last years most dominant closers will be out of the job all year.
It reminds me of my Drew Storen. Sure he sucked in the beginning of the season and they gave his job to Burnett. But eventually, he was transitioned back into the role because he is a player that most people WANT to have the job. Its kind of the same with Soria, I doubt that the organization is completely comfortable permanently demoting him.
Callaspo is my least valuable player longterm...BUT, I currently start him daily and may continue to as long as Walker is struggling. our small benches (only 3 spots to tinker with) make it hard to wait out a guy who lost his closer job to see IF he turns it around. Thats why Im considering dumping Soria for his replacement...also gaining a 3rd closer who is SP/RP is always appealing.
to clarify: I ALREADY DROPPED DAMON (for Salas)...he is gone. Callaspo isnt valued longterm, but i need him NOW while Walker stinks and until Zimmerman comes back.
the ONLY person I would consider dropping for Crow is Soria. Thats what Im asking, is should I (or would you) make that move?????
I just cant fathom burning 1 of my only 3 flexible bench slots on Soria while he takes weeks to possibly correct things...and even then, if Madson & Salas are still valued closers I would have no need for a 3rd RP. Crow is SP/RP so i can start him daily along with Madson & Salas
If the only player I could drop to pick up Crow was Soria then I probably wouldn't do it.
Crow is great and he'll get you a few saves but I believe Soria will get the job back sometime during the season. He's been too good past few years to lose his job.
