I got offered the following trade:
I get: Pujols, Ichiro, Soto, Tim Hudson
I give up: McCann, Davis, Verlander, Johnson
I'm currently in first place in the league, so I'm reluctant to make any trade that big, but I always have to take a second look when Pujols is involved. But, I am also leading the league in R, HR, RBI and I just added Crisp to shore up my SB's, I don't know if I need the bats. I am also close to the top in all of my pitching categories (except for Saves), so I don't really want to mess with that either.
So after looking at the trade further, I'm going to have to reject it. Am I making the right decision?
Nope..... You're giving up the best catcher, in a shallow position, two aces, and a good hitter with power in Davis. I see no reason to give up all that just to get Pujols.
If you need replacement catchers look into Jonathan Lucroy, Chris Iannetta, Yadier Molina, etc. I don't like that you give up so much pitching for that but it's up to you.
After getting over the sticker shock of Pujols you can see you are giving up a bit too much. You'd be giving up the better catcher and pitching and getting Pujols doesn't make up for that.
