Why would anyone want Erstad on their fantasy. They guy is a HORRIBLE hitter.

His stats in 2000 were amazing.. too bad he fell from that.

It's now obvious that 2000 was a complete fluke.

In the past three years Erstad's OBP has been
.331, .313, .309

His sluggiong percentages in the past three seasons were
.360, .389, .333

Why does this guy keep his job with numbers like that? We're not talking a shortstop here, but a CENTER FIELDER.

I agree he can play defense but no amount of defense can make up for his worthless offense...

The guy keeps his job becuase he's a team leader and gets payed too much to trade or bench. I'm a long time Angel fan, so I'm probably overly optomistic but I have some hope for Erstad this year.

A lot of people think his struggles the past three years were the result of his all out defensive play in center. He dove for everything and was always banged up.

His 'huge' year happened while playing mostly in left. He also had good seasons in 98 and 99 while mostly playing first. The hope is that he can stay healthy playing first and put decent offensive numbers on the board again. I think a .300 average and 20 HRs are very possible.

But back to the original question. You'd have to be crazy to take Erstad over Teixeira.

.......Erstad will surprise many this year.His numbers the last couple of years blow,but look back to 2000....He had one of the greatest fantasy years ever.I think he returns to form this year.Erstad carried my team to a championship in 2000...He'll be overlooked in most drafts.I say pounce on him and reap the rewards...
