check below for league specs...but basically we have small rosters and im really tired of Soria blowing up my ERA and never getting any saves. Fernando Salas is only CL worth a d-mn in free agency & I like all my bats, so not loving having to drop one of them to carry a useless 3rd RP (given our positional setup, we can only ever start 2 RPs at once).
CUT Soria 4 Salas?

Ive def considered those. Damon is having a decent year actually and has been semi-hot lately (.300+ over last 2 weeks). Im hanging on to Callaspo till Zimm comes back, I like having 4 total guys to cover 2b-3b-ss so that I can field full lineups on mon-thurs or when Peralta sits (which seems to be at least 1 a week) or when Walker is sucking (like he has lately).
I know in the grand scheme holding on to a Callaspo or Damon, or even D.Brown, over Soria seems kinda dumb...but those guys are producing and fill a def purpose on my team. all Soria does is lose me WHIP & ERA. I lost WHIP this week by 0.02 thx to Sorias blown save sunday.
No offense meant, but I wish I had managers like you in my league.
Cut Damon and add Salas immediately. Damon does you no good sitting on your bench and Salas has pitched quite well since inheriting the closer role. There's absolutely no reason why you'd drop Soria (a top 5 closer) for any reason other than season-ending surgery or if he looses his job, which he hasn't. He's struggling but he'll be fine.

2 things...
1st - thanks for the input, all and any is appreciated.
2nd - Soria still a top 5 closer? Have you even been paying attention to what Sorias been doing all year? His ERA is 5.57. Hes blown 4 saves out of only 11 chances. Velocity is down 2+ mph on fastball, so hes throwing the cutter all the time, and his control has been dying because of it. The Royals claim "no physical problem", but his delivery has been very inconsistent all year (which usually points towards a physical problem), and KC is def firmly entrenched in the SELLERS market when it comes to Soria, so of course they would hide something if he is hurt.
Look, Ive won several championships, and know what Im doing. So the whole "I wish you were in my league" is waters off this ducks back. If you notice our rosters consist of 1 single RP slot & 1 single P slot. So NO teams in our league carry 3 RPs, because its a waste of a 1 of only 5 bench slots (2 of which MUST be used to carry 4 SPs).
That said, the argument that carrying a 5th OF (Damon) is more of a waste of that final bench slot, than holding on to a maybe lost cause in Soria/3rd RP (after adding Salas), well then that is an argument I can see value in...so I say thanks for your input and am looking forward to others....
Soria is a sitting duck and I don't think he will improve this year. His team doesn't really have a choice so I don't think he'll lose his job, though.
If you don't think you're at risk of sending a closer into the free agent pool then you could risk the move and see how it goes. The old adage is if it ain't broke don't fix it, but clearly Soria is broken and I'm not sure he'll get better for you. A gamble may be needed to turn things around.
You seem reluctant to make other moves and seem to know what you're doing, so I won't suggest my idea as I agree with the above poster on dropping Damon... It just seems more obvious...
I tend to agree on everything you said. Damon the more obvious cut, but Soria is probably broken & not gonna get fixed. With our small benches (essentially 3 spots, since we have to use 2 for SPs) pocketing a struggling closer is hard...
any other opinions welcome, leave a link, whir guaranteed
I see that your league only has one RP spot and one P spot. However, dropping Soria just doesn't seem like the right move. I'd rather have Soria sitting on the bench than Damon. You have two of the top OFs in the game and Rajah who'll get you the SBs.
Soria's numbers from previous season is hard to ignore. When he's on, you know he is a top-5 closer in the game.
It is probable that no one will claim Damon off waivers anyway, so it's not like he'd be out of your reach. Even if he was picked up, there has to be other alternatives that are just as reliable.
