If I give up Miguel Cabrera, I think I should be able to get almost anyone in the league. Who should I try to get to improve this team?
I'm a shallow points league, no keeper. Here's my line up:
B Montero 1 MCab 2 Pedroia 3 Beltre SS Rollins OF Bautista OF Bruce OF Crawford Util Ellsbury BN Konerko BN Choo DL Zimmerman
SP: Weaver, Ubalda, Chacin, Nolasco, Daniel Hudson, Jaime Garcia, CJ Wilson RP: Marmol, Street, Madson, Feliz
I think I can stick Konerko in at 1st base and trade away MCab to improve other areas. I'm wasting Konerko points on the bench as I can't get a good trade for Konerko...
To my eyes, it seems my team is weak in starting pitchers. Question is:
1) If I go for pitchers, do I simply aim for a straight swap with Halladay? Is that worth a straight swap? If not Halladay, who else should I target? 2) If I go for batting... Who should I aim for to improve my team? I think I'm pretty good on batting, so I'm not sure who to target if I'm willing to give up MCab.
In a league like this, I think Cabrera for Halladay straight up is not only a fair deal but also one that'd help your team the most. If you can get that deal, and slide Konerko/Choo in, go for it.
Failing that, Cabrera for Tulo's a good option, too. I wouldn't necessarily say do Cabrera/Rollins straight for Tulo, but, if you can do Cabrera/Rollins for Tulo and, say, Cahill, Beckett, Latos, I think that's a good deal for your needs, too.
I don't think you are going to get the best value by trading for a SS. I would rather go for a monster amount of production like Miggy for CarGo and Stanton or Joyce, etc. Or if you really wanna go the SS way, I would rather get someone like Asdrubal, who can possibly have another big name tacked on with the trade.
If I were the manager with Halladay and you offered me Cabrera straight up I would take it in a second......... Hitters in my book are always more valuable than pitchers, pitchers show up during the season all the time, but 1st round talent like Cabrera do not. The second offer Cabrera/Rollins for Tulo/Hamels is a step in the better direction.

Those are the words of a seasoned fantasy baseball manager... Well put.
I agree that muggy for halladay is suspect because ud be giving up a dominant bat. I'd rather get a late 1st/ early 2nd round bat and an ace like Lester to help your teams pitching while still retaining good offense.
