Right now I would want Shields over Halladay, as I said high K rate guys are my priority as my league has a low inning cap (thus need to pile up all the Ks I can), and Shields should nab at least 8 or so based on current numbers, Halladay would probably end up 2nd as his K rate is in the 7ish range (about the same as Kershaw) though right now Halladay is about 2-3 ER a game too.
Anibal has been hitting at least 8 a game (mostly) in May and isn't killing ERA/WHIP RIGHT NOW. Lincecum has been all over the place in strikeouts right now.
this is really horrible. the thread is not top 10 pitchers over their last 5 starts. that would not be an opinion. that would be a list with fact. the question is who do you want for immediate upcoming games.
ugh.. i don't have the patience to go on, i quit.
I quit quite some time ago, it's nice.
Geez people...don't get bent out of shape about a mis-leading title of a thread. I've said it already, it can be taken in any number of ways.
You would be foolish not to want James Shields or Michael Pineda on your team RIGHT NOW. Would I rank them over Roy Halladay or Tim Lincecum RIGHT NOW? Hell no.
Good grief...some of you people sure do have thin skin about nothing.

hey, man.. I was with the whole deal until someone started putting James Shieds and Anibal sanchez ahead of or around Roy Halladay.
I typed out a pretty long rant here but I deleted it. Coyote I am sorry if it appeared we were jumping all over you, your rankings just don't make sense to me so I will have to respectfully disagree. No matter the format I will strongly contend that Halladay is the best pitcher and it is not really much of a debate. You clearly disagree and we can leave it at that. No hard feelings I hope.
Halladay Lincecum Felix Sabathia Verlander Kershaw Lester Weaver Lee
I probably wouldn't change too much about it. Josh Johnson was 18th on my list btw, since I see him listed a lot and I disagree with it. His injury issues were just too much for me to take in the top 10. Ubaldo was #11 and would have been the big miss for me if I had gotten him.

pretty much my pre-season rank as well, but I had Lee above Kershaw, and Hamels rounding out my top 10

Yup, pretty much. No reason to bump up guys like Shields/Pineda/Sanchez over guys who were ranked higher to begin with and are still pitching well now. The Shields/Pineda/Sanchez's of the world should get a bump right now but no reason to bump them in the top 10 when the current top 10 are all still pitching well themselves and have a much better track record of sustaining it.
