Bell for Billingsley WHIR

Postby RPDfire007 » Sat May 28, 2011 8:47 pm

I have all of these closers and want to trade one for a SP. I feel like if i want to trade Bell before he gets traded in real life because I'm unsure if hell still be closing. Do you guys think Bell for Billingsley is a fair value.

My Closers:
Bell
Walden
Axford
Storen
Santos

Billingsly is in the ballbark of what is fair for a top closer. Billingsly is a low-end #2 or a high-end #3 SP.....just about fair value for Bell.

In theory, you should probably be able to do slightly better.....but just slightly. I would value Bell more like a solid #2 SP.....as opposed to the borderline #2/#3 SP that is Billingsly. But in real life, it doesn't always work out that way....since you need to find somebody else in your league that, a) needs a closer, and b) has a SP of fair value they are willing to part with.

You might want to make sure you can't get a guy like Marcum, Scherzer or Beckett.......but don't waste too much time.....Billingsly is a fair deal.

Your other option is to consider adding a solid hitter to the deal (if you have one to spare) so that you can grab a really high end SP.

help with mine?

Gallardo, and that is coming from a Billingsley owner. Billingsley can be super frustrating by giving up a big inning out of nowhere. Please see mine: viewtopic.php?t=431944

I think you get either of those two guys you're doing great. Everyone knows there is a chance Bell gets deal and becomes a setup man. That make the deal a huge risk for them with high reward. Plus, with closers coming and going throughout the season, another owner might just wait till that happens. I don't like to pay a lot for closers so giving up a top notch starter is tough unless someone can make up a lot of ground in that area.
