Apparently Lamb has some major elbow issues and is expected to have TJ surgery. He is in California getting a final opinion but from all accounts he is done for the season. This should likely add at least another year to his development cycle, assuming he recovers fully. Not a major deal since he is only 20 right now, this would probably push his timetable back to the 2014 season.
Tav, any final word on Lamb needing TJ? I have to make a decision to drop him or J. Taillon in a keeper where we can keep 1 guy for free who hasn't played to this point (might not keep Taillon either if one or more of my sticks aren't called up), and I am torn - can't make myself drop Lamb for some reason and I think some certainty one way or the other might put me over the top
Lamb's follow-up with the doctor in California isn't for another couple of days so there hasn't been a solid answer yet. From everything I've heard the surgery is very likely though. Tough call on whether or not to keep him, I guess it would depend on how far out you project guys and how tough it would be to find a similar type prospect over the next 2+ years.

I honestly think I could get him back next year (or later) after people forget about him, plus it's a pitcher we're talking about anyway
We keep 15 each year and I usually keep at least 10 hitters with Hamels, Verlander, Marcum and a stable of closers anyway, so I think I'd rather add Goldschmidt to my crop of Mous, Hosmer, Lawrie, Sands, etc. and just hope another one or two of them sticks and puts out to the tune of being keep-worthy. I have an ancient team that's been hitting the wall for the last few years after going back-to-back, and I am making a concerted effort to finish in the money but get MUCH younger/cheaper going forward.
It's no contest that you keep Tallion instead of TJ Lamb. That's the choice that you make pre-TJ although it's closer. But I think you also keep Tallion regardless of what bats you have.

Living here in Mobile, AL, I can safely say GOLDY is the real deal. Add him if possible.
