Drop Hosmer for Pagan? (or others) -- WHIR

Postby Bolthead04 » Thu May 26, 2011 6:29 pm

Hosmer may produce decently, but I find I am not using him in my UTIL spot, so he's not of much use. Considering he's only produced one run, and no HR/RBI in the past week, I don't feel too bad about dropping him. Should I switch him out or stand pat?

Players I am looking at replacing Hosmer with are....

primarily Angel Pagan
Ryan Craig
Cameron Maybin
Seth Smith
Dominic Brown

Here's my lineup. WHIR if you leave a link.

The league is 12 team H2H.

I used to be real big on Pagan. I even drafted him as one of my outfielders. However, he really hasnt been productive so far this year and I would really wait to see what his first few games look like. Overall, I think I'd rather have Hosmer.

Help?

Nobody would even consider Pagan or anyone else? Hosmer is playing average at best in a deep position. I've been having to play matchups in the OF to even come close to winning the batting categories each week. Joyce, Berkman, and Werth are the best of them, and none of them starts every night for me. It seems having an extra option would be more beneficial than the occasional Hosmer start (especially with lessened Run/RBI potential considering the lineup he is in....).

I know Hosmer would not be picked up if I dropped him, but I know a couple people are looking at Pagan. It just seems to me like he'd be more potentially useful. If he's not, I can toss him for another. (I rode Frenchy, Roberts, and Aviles while they were hot then tossed them after.)

Well, how about a different perspective... What would keeping Hosmer on my bench accomplish for me that tossing him wouldn't?

Will reply shortly and thanks for your opinions. Keep them coming. :)
