I think he'll likely be the one sent down when Cook returns this week.
help me out here. i see ubaldo, chacin, hammel, and cook. don't see why cook coming up would send nicasio to the minors. am i missing a starter on COL?

Clayton Mortensen
i don't think it's a lock that nicasio gets sent down in favor of mortenson. tracy was practically drooling over nicasio after the game. i think he gets another start at the very least.
We'll see what happens. Nicasio has been one of the few bright spots on the team lately, and I'd like to see him get at least another start. However, Tracy seems to like what Mortensen has done so far, so he might not make the obvious move of making him the long man in the pen, demoting Greg Reynolds, and giving Nicasio a spot in the rotation.
Good news - Nicasio to start Friday. If he performs well again on Friday, I'm hopeful he will be a permanent part of the rotation over a guy like Mortensen.

I just stashed Liriano on the DL in favor of Nicasio. Hopefully we'll see some strikeouts the next time out.
Has been solid thus far, and is starting to show the k potential that he displayed in the minor leagues. However, his next 3 starts are against DET, NYY, and CHW. Brutal schedule for interleague play. Should probably be avoided for all 3 starts.
I was quite impressed with Nicasio's start last night. He finally showed some of that strikeout potential that he flashed in the Texas League, and I was particularly happy with the way he buckled down in the first inning and didn't let it blow up on him after a lead HR, a HBP, and two SBs (he struck out three men in the row to keep the runner stranded at 3B). Pitch count is still a bit of a concern to me, but hopefully he'll be able to get that under control as he learns and grows as a major league starter.
