Traded Anderson/Britton for Kershaw. FAIR? WHIP

Postby jruffus1 » Thu May 26, 2011 4:35 pm

I have been lacking in the K and Win categories because many of my pitchers, although good, are on pretty crappy teams. So, in an attempt to fix this, I packaged two of my starters for an ace.

I GAVE:

Brett Anderson
Zach Britton

HE GAVE:

Clayton Kershaw

Here is my roster before the trade:

C - V-Mart
1st - Votto
2nd - Pedroia
3rd - Bautista
SS - S Castro
OF - Ellsbury
OF - Granderson
OF - Werth
Util - A Soriano

SPs:
Verlander
Oswalt
Anderson
Britton
Liriano
Hellickson
Cueto

RPs:
Marmol
Putz
Storen
Balfour (till Bailey comes back)
Bailey

Do you think that this trade was beneficial to my team?

I like this trade for you. Kershaw is a stud and BA is an injury risk.

It's not a slam dunk but I don't hate it. You traded two #2.5s for one #1. Britton's potential scares me that you might lose on the deal but there's nothing wrong with taking the sure thing. Well done.

I like it, kershaw gets K's and he can rack up wins, Dodgers may not be a great team but he is a top tier pitcher who will only get better

While I like Britton a lot (O's fan...), this is a pretty solid trade. Kershaw's about as close to a "sure thing" as you can get, and you should be able to pick up a decent FA pitcher to fill in the hole.

Trading two pitchers that can go boom or bust for one higher caliber pitcher... Well, you got the best player in the deal, and you freed up a roster spot. I'd say that trade was rather in your favor.

I like being on the 1 player side in a two for one, so good for you. :)

Thanks for the help on mine. :)

I'm with the prior commenters. Kershaw + open roster spot is better than Anderson + Britton. Wouldn't necessarily count on a huge increase in wins as the Dodgers haven't played well this year to get Kershaw all that many more victories than your alternatives. But he'll definitely be an improvement across the board including in Ks.

Nice deal for you!

My only concern is the bullpen protecting the lead for Kershaw, but I like his bullpen a heck of a lot better than Anderson's or Britton's. :-)
