Tex/Oswalt for Haren/Pineda

Postby Leesville Sluggers » Thu May 26, 2011 8:45 am

5x5 10 team - non keeper

An owner is desperate for help in ERA, K's, and WHIP...has offered me his Tex and Oswalt for my Haren and Pineda. I know it would hurt my pitching, but ive just added bedard off waivers for insurance, and ian kennedy and bud norris are still on the FA list if needed.

Im tempted to do this for a couple of reasons. One being Haren's 1st and 2nd half splits....post all-star break, haren generally cools off quite a bit, with the exception of last year when he was traded. Secondly, I keep reading speculation on this board abuot Pineda being put on an innings limit...which could hurt his production later in the year. Lastly, Tex generally heats up with the weather, normally posting spectacular numbers from June and onward. Those are just my thoughts....am i right or wrong? See my roster below:

C- Lucroy
1B- Morneau
2B- Cano
SS- Alexei Ramirez
3B- A Rod
OF- Mcutchen
OF- J Upton
OF- Joyce
UT- Logan Morrison
BN- Carlos Lee
BN- Justin Smoak
DL- Sandoval

SP: Haren, Pineda, Cain, Britton, Morrow, Bedard
RP: Papelbon, Chris Perez, Leo Nunez, Joey Devine
DL: Aardsma

Very solid deal, I would take it no questions asked. Oswalt for either Haren/Pineda is relatively close, and Tex far exceeds either pitcher in value, so the net of the trade is a major upgrade for you. I also do not love your 1B/Util so adding Tex and not losing a hitter is ok because you make a major upgrade on your offense and adding Oswalt and picking up Kennedy for Smoak makes your team better in the end. Adding Tex to Morneau makes Smoak expendable. Drop him for Kennedy and don't think twice.

Sounds like a no-brainer when you put it like that. :-) Thanks for the feedback.

You knew it all along. Still nice to get some confirmation though. Happy to help.

I thin you have your answer, but do it. You can afford to do this, esp. with those pitchers on waivers (Norris for K's, especially).

See mine? It's also Tex-related: viewtopic.php?f=26&t=431681
