Should I use my waiver to pick up Rios???

Postby drtodddds » Wed May 25, 2011 7:07 pm

Alex Rios is on waivers until tomorrow morning. I have the number ONE waiver pick. Should I use it on him? Here's my team.

C Carlos Santana
1B Votto
2B Kinsler
3B Prado
SS S. Drew
CI Mig Cabrera
MI Aaron Hill
OF Kemp, Stubbs, Werth, Rajai Davis, Grady Sizemore, Mark Reynolds

P Haren, Jimenez, Cueto, D. Hudson, Chacin, Sherzer, Lohse
RP Kimbrel, Melancon, C. Perez, Soria, Walden

Was thinking to drop Reynolds and use the waiver pick on Rios. All advice appreciated! WHIR!

I wouldn't use the WW pick on him but I would pick him up if you think he will clear waivers and drop Reynolds. If you really want him I guess you could use your pick on him although he will probabably clear but you know your league better than me.

please help

There is no way he clears waivers in this league. If I want him, I'll have to use my waiver pick.

Sizemore should be back soon and your outfield looks pretty set to me. How many OF do you play?

With that said, if your waiver spot is essentially only valuable for when someone gets dropped (callups should just be normal FCFS pickups), Rios is as good a player as any to use the spot on and drop Reynolds for him.

I would save your first waiver for when a frustrated owner drops a top notch player, not named Rios

I would grab him. Im not sure how many teams are in your league but 5 outfielders is a lot and even tho I don't think Rios will have the year he had last year I think with in the next month he might just get hot an start to produce 3rd-4th outfielder stats. But I am a bit biased because I have waited with the #1 waiver priority all year waiting for that big mistake drop from someone and I never got anything worth it, eventually I think I grabbed someone in late July but it was too late and it was no 20-20 potential like i think Rios is. I would have definatly gambled on Rios's stats this year if I had that same situation I was in a couple years ago.
Larry - "Who's this? Who are you?"
Crash Davis - "I'm the player to be named later."
