Time to grab Brett Lawrie? WHIR

Postby sigriffey » Tue May 24, 2011 10:45 am

I see Lawrie is lighting it up and could be promoted sometime soon. Should I drop anyone to grab him?

Dempster is your only droppable guy. Honestly I wouldn't make a move right now. Picking up prospects on the CHANCE they will be called and THEN perform well is foolish. You already have Brown, plus Strasburg stashed, just keep your players as is and don't worry about prospects for the time being.

The only guys I considered dropping were Avila (I have Martin and 2 catchers is kind of meh ... Though I like Avila and we play 3 utility). The other is Domonic Brown, but he just got up and I still like his potential.

Lawrie is tempting because we have some very proactive owners and I was able to grB homer is use him in a trade for Prince. So sometimes the speculative grabs pay off in our league.

Any other thoughts?

Yeah, what the heck...drop Avila for him. I think Lawrie's going to make a real splash. It's always a risk to take a chance on a guy like this but sometimes you catch lightning in a bottle like you did with Hosmer...or some people did with Posey last year...and so on. Bottom line - there's a much better chance that Lawrie has a major impact on your season (as a player or trade bait) than Avila does!

Is Avila the clear drop for me? Or is he gonna be a productive bat to hang onto? I could also drop Maybin, but he looks good.

Isn't Brett Lawrie's upside better than Jed Lowrie as well?

Keep Avila, and hold on picking up Lawrie. You've got a decent roster.

Maybe a package deal? 2-1? Try and move some pieces so you can nab him. I manage every league like it's a dynasty, grab as much youth as possible and sell off the old.

Don't drop Avila. He is as good as any C right now.
Dempster is looking better.

Lawrie or Brown aren't going to put up the numbers Avila has.
I would look for vets under the radar.
