I've been offered Kemp for King Felix and Chris Young the outfielder in my 5x5 10 team H2H keeper. We can keep players infinitely but the price goes up 20% each season. Next year they would cost:
Felix: $32 CBY: $12
Kemp:$30
Obviously it would be a major upgrade in the outfield and would leave my pitching as:
P Justin Verlander P Bud Norris P Gio González P Ian Kennedy P Jhoulys Chacin P Johnny Cueto BN Wandy Rodríguez BN Brandon Morrow BN Erik Bedard DL Brandon Beachy
My pitching looked a lot stronger before I dealt off Shields so I don't know if this squad can take the hit of losing Felix. I carry a lot of starters because we have weekly changes with no IP limit so I look for 2 start guys or play matchups to help maximize the team. Drop a link I'll try and get a look at yours.
Yes, I think you should take this deal. You are getting a top-ten bat in return for Felix, and your rotation, anchored by Verlander, will be strong even after making the deal. Plus, you save a few bucks come auction time next year. Do it.
Tough call, but I do it. Verlander's a rock, and the back end of your rotation is very strong, so I think you can survive without dual aces. And not that you'll find a new Felix, but pitching's always easier to find for nothing than hitting.
She said always remember never to trust me She said that the first night that she met me She said "there's gonna be a time when I'm gonna have to go with whoever's gonna get me the highest."
this seems over my head, but i think i'd agree with the other two. a) chris young is so...meh, while Kemp is rock solid (dunno what your other batsmen look like) b) i'm the kinda guy who'll start a jason marquis or a jeff francis if their two starts look good, so yeah, pitching is widely available, and yours....BEDARD??? Nice!!!! c) Money-wise, you'll make out like a bandit next year.
My offense, not exactly a slammer but that outfield with Kemp would be sick. If Dunn/Kinsler would hit a little I can compete but adding Kemp can help, its losing Felix that gives me pause.
C Russell Martin 1B Adam Dunn 2B Ian Kinsler 3B Michael Cuddyer SS Darwin Barney CI Matt LaPorta MI Yunel Escobar OF Ryan Braun OF Jay Bruce OF Jacoby Ellsbury OF B.J. Upton OF Álex Ríos Util Chris Young BN Justin Smoak BN Mike Moustakas
I think this is a good deal for you. you're pitching is pretty good even without Felix and Kemp is solid which of course you should know. Despite the fact you are filling in a position you already look strong with on OF with Braun, Bruce, and Ellsbury but surely wouldn't hurt. It would definitely make your team more balanced to me.
I agree ... Take it. You have reliable arms to fall back on and you save money for next year. And kemp is probablyndue to bust out the hot bat again too.
Okay, take this with HUGE grain of salt, cause I have no experience in keeper leagues.
How hard is it to get stud pitchers each year? I'm guessing easier than getting stud hitters. Because normally I'd trade a first round hitter for a first round pitcher all day long. Maybe this is just personal preference, but I'd rather stack my hitting and try to jury rig a pitching staff than vice versa.
Also what's the worst case scenario? If your pitching goes down the tubes without your second front liner, you can always trade Kemp for a top ace, right? In a 10 team league, (small) I don't feel like I'd worry much about the Chris Young aspect of the deal.
And...just read everyone else's response so that I wasn't biased when answering, and we seem to have a concurrence.
