Shields for Valverde?

Postby BostonBK7 » Sun May 22, 2011 4:02 pm

Its a standard mixed roto league. I would be getting Shields. I currently have Valverde, Feliz, Cordero, and Bailey. I'm still a bit leery about Shields' hot start. What do you guys think?

Heck yeah ... Valverde is known to lose steam in the second half anyway. I own him, and plan to sell near the allstar break. I'd sell now for Shields.

Shields is for real to a extent.
His babip and strand rate are lucky, but he still has a great xFIP.

However, Valverde is a good closer.
I don't like trading good closers for good sp, because imo, sp is the easiest thing to find and replace.
Trade Cordero, before he blows up.
Low K/9 and shaky xFIP.

Shields for me. He won't stay this hot but he's nothing to be leery about IMO.
