Brett Anderson's Worth? WHIR

Postby Rmbxr9 » Sun May 22, 2011 1:38 am

Question...
I'm trying to figure out Anderson's worth in my league.
It's 18 Teams, Points

We don't play ERA or WHIP

Win +12
Loss -7
K +1
L -1
CG +7
SHO +7

So a guy like Anderson losing 2-1 games is worthless to me, just eats innings.
I think he'll maybe win 10 this year? Maybe 140 Ks

Would it then be reasonable to trade him for someone like Alberto Callaspo? A guy who plays everyday, hits for average, doesn't strikeout (Ks are -1 in our league), scores some runs, etc.

Last year for example, Callaspo scored 410 Points in my league.
If Anderson gets 11 Wins/140 Ks that's 272 Points, you know?

Callaspo is 2B,SS,3B,UTIL eligible.

yes Callaspo would have more value %-6, but who are your other pitchers, and who's your 2nd base and 3rd base?

Callaspo's better than a pitcher who pitches to contact, but there are better options at his positions

A league like that would really favor Chipper

My 2b is Pedroia, 3b is Rolen
I picked up Jeff Baker yesterday for the bench, he's 2b,3b,OF

Pitchers are: Chacin, Hellickson, Lilly, Tomlin, McClellan, Vazquez, Arrieta, Piniero, J.McDonald.

While that doesn't seem great, for our point system it might be the best staff with all those 5 and 6 game winners in there.

And also Anderson is on there as well.

So I don't really NEED a guy like Callaspo, but I could sub him when people have off days, put him in when Rolen gets a day off, someone is struggling, etc.

And he's a lot better option than someone like Miles or Descalso.
Guy probably won't accept it, but there's other guy like M.Izturis or someone.
