Wow, this is a tough call for me. I just traded away Adrian Gonzalez and Gio Gonzalez to get Ryan Braun. Braun is a 5-tool player but Bautista is just a freak again this year. Braun hitting .305, 12 homers, 34 RBI, 31 runs with 10 SB. Bautista hitting .360, 16 homers, 27 RBI, 35 runs with 4 SB. You can't go wrong either way!
If I could have either, I actually think I might take Bautista.
It's a close call....you can't do too wrong either way..... but Braun just has more of a track record, making him the safer bet. I;m not saying Braun is guaranteed to finish with better numbers than Bautista......Bautista has huge upside......but we KNOW what Braun's numbers will look like at the end of the season (barring injury, of course). While I think Bautista is a stud, there is just a greater risk that Bautista will have a down second half of the season compared to Braun.
The key in your case is that Bautista is being used as an outfielder for you since you have Youk......if Bautista happened to be your 3b, I actually would have suggested you not make the deal due to the position scaricity at 3b. It's that close of a call, IMHO.
