He needs a 1B and I'm looking to add an upside stick to my hobbled/under-achieving line-up.
15-team, very competitive season-long points-league (he and I are #1 and #2 in the standings).
He'd send me Stanton and I'd send him Ike Davis.
I would need to drop Mike Pelfrey or Clayton Richard too (since Davis is on my DL). This isn't all bad because it frees-up a DL (or Minor League) slot for a guy like Brett Lawrie or Derek Lee.
I've got several 1B to replace Davis in the line-up (Hosmer, Swisher, or Huff with Cuddyer, Prado and Santana also eligible while playing other positions for me right now). I just figure Stanton's got a tad more upside and if nothing else, I can actually use him for a week or two whereas Davis isn't likely back til early June.
Anyway, so essentially it's like trading Davis and Pelfrey/Richard - FOR - Stanton and Lawrie/Lee.
QUESTION: Do you like the deal? And thoughts on Pelfrey vs Richard and Lawrie vs Lee.
If that proposal was sent to you, hit accept now and don't look back! Davis is playing above what many thought his ceiling was, while Stanton is a near lock to be a top 20 OF. Not to mention that Davis will never match Stanton's power numbers.
PS - Why in the world do you have Pelfrey on your roster in a 15 team league? Sure you can try to do the Home-Away starting/benching things but I can think of much better options: Vargas, Fister, any Padres starter.
Keep in mind it's a points league and not roto so the total number of homers and such isn't as important as total points. The both project fairly comparibly but I agree that Stanton still has superior upside (although, Davis has proven more at this level I'd say).
Hoping he still feels good about it and hits "accept"
(Incidentally, our system rewards W's big time and Pelfrey gets you 13/year. And with 15 teams...most that stock-pile SP's...he's got some value)
