well.. it seems to be a hot topic of conversation and AD is littering every thread with it, so I figured I'd just start it's own thread..

why is tommorow supposedly the day of the rapture? who decided this?

Some evangelical Christian loon has figured out the rapture would take place tomorrow and the end of the world on October 21 through some mathematical calculation. He predicted September 6, 1994 would be the day of reckoning and it didn't happen. That day is my birthday, so naturally the end wouldn't happen on the greatest day of the calendar year.

What strikes me funny is why would there need to be earthquakes to necessitate a rapture? Isn't it supposed to be that people vanish from thin air and that's a rapture? Why the earthquakes?

Anyhow, I get the feeling those crazies will feel like this on May 22nd:

That said, how many doomsday predictions have you survived?

September 6, 1994 - As mentioned. Related... I read something about Pat Robertson of 700 Club fame say something that the world would end by the end of 1982. See, already dodged one as a newborn.

I remember people in 2006 and 2008 saying the same, of which I can't remember how it was supposed to transpire. Anyhow, I love doomsday predictions, especially the kind created by some religious fanatics fudging up the numbers from the Bible in supporting of their outrageous beliefs. I think of them as Doomsday Madisons.

Dangit, why didn't I think of that before. I'll grab the next flight that leaves at 5:30pm-ish for nowhere in particular. It's a win-win situation. If I don't get raptured, I won't get to feel the most epic earthquake ever and get traumatized about it. Brilliant.

As far as Debbie Harry vs. Stevie Nicks goes, I swear Debbie Harry's shirt design looks like that of a winged middle finger. I like her style, Debbie for me too please.
