Whose The Bettter 3B HeLP WHIR!

Postby etl1692 » Thu May 19, 2011 2:57 pm

Im about over Uribe playing 2B. I figure keep him on the bench and fill him in when players arent playing cause he is so versatil, (2B,3B,SS). I'll move Alberto Collaspo so 2B.

League: 12 teams head to head points.

Which 3B should I pick up from waivers?
1.Scott Rolen(3B)
2.Chase Headly(3B)
3.Wilson Betemit(3B)
4.Johnathon Herrera(3B)
5.Chris Johnson(3B)

Which player should I drop? Im thinking Swisher, Gardner, Bourn (since i have OF)

Leave Link Will Respond!! Thanks!

Wow, this decision certainly seems to be a war of attrition... hopefully you can do better than a pyrrhic victory. I think I'd have to go with Rolen here, only because without whipping out all the stats looking at the other three guys i'm just like "no.... no... no" and even tho Rolen hasn't put up great numbers yet and he's already been on the DL I believe, he had a pretty decent league-average type season last year and I would think if he gets healthy and rolling in that lineup and ballpark he's got the most upside out of the lot listed there, presuming you want HR/RBI as opposed to like R/SB, at which point you maybe go jonathan herrera but don't expect more than ~20ish SBs (and maybe that's even a bit generous) and just hope that he can continue to hit .280 and score runs staying in that 2-hole, but getting a player for one category that isn't HR/SB is generally a waste in fantasy baseball, unless you're in a ridiculously deep league.

So yeah, while I don't necessarily heartily endorse Scott Rolen overall, given that list of characters I'd go with Rolen. The only guy who did better for a period of time was Chris Johnson had a nice little hotstreak in the middle of the season last year, but I think the general consensus is that he was playing over his head, as he promptly fell off to very very mundane by teh end of last year and hasn't really done anything of merit this year, therefore, it's Rolen by selecting the lesser of 4 evils!

Even though Uribe has nice position eligibility, he's the weak link on your team. I'd drop him for Rolen.

Rolen for sure. He has been a very hot bat for the reds when healthy and he seems to be right now. I just picked him up and like what I am getting

I would also go with Rolen here...not only is he the most proven player out of the bunch, but he is on the best team out of those players. He is going to produce and be much better than Uribe or any of those other options. I would either drop Uribe (unless you want him for the position eligibility, which I don't necessarily blame you for that) or Swisher. Gardner and Bourn are two of the best sources for SB and eben though Gardner hasn't fully come around yet, he should...more so than Swisher anyway; I also just don't like Swisher hahaha but nah I would still say he's the one to drop out of those three. Good luck and thanks for the help on mine! ;-D
