Make a move for HanRam?

Postby tommo » Thu May 19, 2011 12:13 pm

Currently in a 12 Team H2H Points league with one keeper (Players eligible if drafted in 6th round or later). Pretty standard scoring but we do get negative points for batters striking out (-.5), and being caught stealing (-1). I currently have Aybar and Ian Desmond with Yunel Escobar and Rafael Furcal on the waiver wire. Should I make a play for HanRam? I think giving up Weaver would really hurt my rotation. Hanley's owner has shown a lot of interest in Garcia though. Thanks! ;-D

I'd probably look to trade Weaver instead since you might get away without packaging a big time stud bat in the deal. I doubt Hanley comes real cheap but you might be able to sell him on the nice early season numbers Weaver and Prado posted. You could play Beckham in Prado's slot. I doubt he'd take that pair for Hanley but I can't see going lower without insulting him. I also don't know that you are all that much better off if you do the trade but unless his slump continues you still have to pay to get a guy like Hanley.

Make a move for HanRam?

I actually just traded for Prado. Beckham's been atrocious. Would you suggest going for a lesser SS like possibly trading Rasmus for Starlin Castro or McGehee for Peralta who can also play short? Or will either Aybar/Desmond/Furcal/Escobar be serviceable from here on out?

Does Weaver for Hanley straight up gimp my pitching too much?

I think your pitching is so strong that you can afford it, and the value you'd get is too much to pass up anyways. It fills a glaring need, and Hanley is bound to pick it up. Then you're looking at a juggernaut of an offense, with strong pitching as well...I'd pull the trigger on that any day.

My offense would be dominant, but I don't really know how I'd feel about losing my staff's only true ace. We can start 5 starters and 1 reliever or 4 starters and 2 relievers.
