i was just checking his AAA line about an hour ago. I haven't read anything on him, but it looks like he is blocked. He is getting nothing but 1B ab's in AA, no OF. With Hawpe and Ludwick playing better of late, im guessing they just let him playout the season in the minors. I think a trade is his best hope for playing time, as Rizzo has probably passed him up in the pecking order, if callups are needed.

Rizzo is on a absolute tear
Hawpe still looks horrible with the glove.
Ludwick has 6 hrs, and 20 rbis over the last 30 games. i was shocked to see that. the padres should sell high!

Kyle is doing pretty well in AA right now, honestly, for me I wish the Padres would start falling back from the pack in the west. They just seem to hang around enough, to not move to a youth movement. What I see is that Cantu needs to be needed by another team as a bat 1b/3b off the bench, and Blanks would then take his place. As long as Cantu is on the roster (imo) Blanks wont be. Another possibility is if Ludwick was moved, but I dont think Blanks will even be asked to play LF until next spring, since hes just about a yr removed from TJ.

if him and Rizzo can produce at the major league level, the Padres could have a pretty solid core, with Decker soon to follow, Maybin, Blanks, Rizzo, and Headley.

Im thinking thats the hope, unfortunately, we dont have any OF to replace Ludwick this year, I think Blanks is still at least a bit away from playing the OF. Hawpe is a butcher with the glove, our chance to sell him depends on his bat, as he can be a lefthanded bench/dh/1b guy to help a team like oh the Angels.

oh by the way, I just watched an Angels game for the first time last night, and I only have to say 1 thing.

wtf HANK CONGER? seriously??? I was completely baffled when I saw him at the plate, talk about having a preconceived notion of what a player looks like. I wasnt even CLOSE!

thinking about this more ... you realize that after a historically bad start, we are only 5 games out, and we have a wining record against the west.
im calling it right now ...

yuck, talk about making a bad offense even less threatening. I dont think any of the guys at AAA are answers, the one guy that I would like to see get some AB's down the stretch is Baxter, if he comes back healthy. AA looks good with Tekotte, Decker, to go with Maybin, I think thats our 2013 OF, possibly moving Blanks for a SS/2B at some point, cause we really have none. Also Darnell continues to hit, but I am skeptical about him after watching him many times at Elsinore

yah I know, same as last year, I was hoping we could start building for the future, last yr set us back a few years, this is not a team that can compete imo against the real teams in the NL. I see us at best in the same category as the Milwaukee, Florida type.
