Is this guy really this good?

I've never seen him pitch but just by looking at the numbers, I'm tempted to pick him up in my roto league.

He probably won't get a chance to become the closer with Bell as the closer for the Padres but, he could possibly get me a few wins and a great era/whip with descent k/9 ratio.

Anybody actually start him in roto leagues?

Are you kidding? Of course he's start-able. After giving up a solo HR the first game of the season, he pitched the equivalent of more than a perfect game, something like 12-14 innings without giving up a hit, walk, or run. He has great ratios and has closer upside if the Pads make a trade mid-season.

I don't do your normal 5x5 (we add together saves, holds, and reliever wins) but he has been one of my most valuable players this season.
0-3 to 4-3. Worst choke in the history of baseball. Enough said.

Me too. The guy is unbelievable... also, if the Bell sweepstakes heats up over the summer, Adams could see time in the closer role down the line sometime...

The guy is good enough to be the closer for about 20 other teams, so yeah he's pretty good

He has 250 innings of 2.20 ball and 9.3 K/9. Of course he is this good. the downside is that he's had an arm injury almost every season.

If Bell is traded at (or before) the deadline who would step in, Adams or Gregerson?

I think Adams is the more prototypical closer, but its sort of a crapshoot. They also have Qualls, but Padres management is smart enough to keep him in middle relief.

The pecking order is clearly established. Adams has been there longer and as far as I know always pitches the 8th while Gregerson pitches the 7th. He is almost for sure the guy unless injured.

I realize that in the current pecking order, Adams has the 8th inning for now, but he is turning 33 this summer. Gregerson just turned 27. There's a chance that if they deal Bell they may want a more long-term solution and turn to Gregerson (more likely scenario if they are out of contention IMO).
