Hey, for some odd reason I go crazy for closers. I've literally owned about 7 different closers throughout this season so far, but because of some job loses and trades, I am left with these players:
SPs: Verlander Oswalt Anderson Britton Hellickson Liriano Cueto
RPs: Marmol Putz Storen Boggs
DL: Bailey, Contreras
I know that when Bailey comes off the DL i'll have a strong set of 4 closers (hopfully), but was wondering what i'd do if either Boggs or Contreras regained their closer gigs. I would have to either drop a starter, or a closer. Is 5 closers too much anyway? I have been trying to package two lower-end starters (like Cueto & Britton) for a more established starter, but so far no bites.
I'm a habitual closer hoarder. Depends on your league, but if you're in a competitive league where everyone is quick to the wire, you might not be able to scoop them up when the in-season turnover happens. If you have toop many you could always use them as trade bait. That being said, STLs committee seems to be favoring F. Salas and E. Sanchez, Boggs can be dropped at this point I would think.
Hal·la·day, n. 1. every fifth day in Philadelphia. 2. a day of rest for the bullpen. 3. innings eater. 4. doc. 5. ace.
might be too late for you too, but (and i agree, drop Boggs...Larussa won't stick to one until he gets good bee's from one of their committee) i don't see contreras being counted on either. Madsen has been stellar in the SV role for once in his career, and he may even keep it when Lidge gets back. Food for thought.
