The Posada Dilemna ...

Postby Tony Micelli » Sun May 15, 2011 5:09 pm

Do any Yankees fans have any real insight or knowledge into what's going on here? He's out of the lineup for today, Sunday the 15th.

It's not possible he retires this season ... especially being paid $13 Mil this year, is it?

And let's just assume he retires/is released, would they call up Montero to catch a few games and DH a few times a week?
Remember me?

Who's the Boss?

I considered the drama to be just the excuse I was looking for to drop him.
Here's the pitch on the way, a swing and a belt! Left field! Way back! BLUE JAYS WIN!

I think, if they decide to make the move Montero comes up to play fulltime as a DH part time catcher

hes still siting there in my keeper league, cause decide whether to grab him yet. Its only 5 keeps so he wont be a keeper any way, and I am running Lucroy out there now

word from the Yankees is that his back is hurt. that's an easy excuse for them to spin as to why he isn't again in the lineup, when really his production is not good.
I really don't expect him to just retire. even if that might be the best move for the Yankees. can the Yankees even release him/designate him for assignment? life long Yankee who has done so much, wouldn't that be like a slap in the face?
if anything I could see the Yankees using the excuse about his back to put him on the DL. whether or not they call up Montero I'm not sure. personally I really hope Montero does get the call. I've already grabbed Montero in my keeper league even though I already have Carlos Santana.
the Yankees need to find Jesus.. Jesus Montero.

I expect he will go on the DL at some point soon, and then slowly fade away.

You really can't blame them for playing A. Jones against a lefty. I think they're going to do that more often now since Gardner and Granderson are playing a lot better than Posada.

this from rotoworld
The Yankees will not discipline Jorge Posada.
Posada apologized to the team for his actions on Saturday and the Yankees accepted. Posada asked out of Saturday's lineup because he was upset about being asked to bat ninth and the YES Network suggested that he "threw a hissy fit" in manager Joe Girardi's office before the game. Posada said all the right things to his team and the media on Sunday, however, and this whole situation appears to have blown over.

looks like all could be good.
it's still going to be about Posada's production level. if he continues to not be able to produce I would assume his playing time will be less and less.

I don't know about that. Posada has been a staple of that team for over 10 years. Now there are definitely issues with why a player of his caliber has been able to stay with one team for over a decade while other teams might have problems making that happen, but I'm pretty sure if any other team has a player in a situation like Posada's it would be newsworthy in the sports world.

I'm kind of tired of Yankees bashing. They still buy players, but they also have a lot of loyalty if you've proven yourself. Maybe that's because they have expendable cash, but it's rare that you see the Yankees throw players to the curb. I think that's a main reason why they've been able to build their brand, it's more than the logo, it's about players who are Yankees. Other big market teams have a revolving door and I don't see that with the Yankees and I can respect that. I do wish that all teams would function on a level playing field but I don't think I can point at the Yankees as the main offender.
