Matt Holliday Trade Options

Postby Bananaslugs » Sat May 14, 2011 3:58 am

Greetings - New here, love the community already, and ready to help out where ever needed!

I am in a standard 5 X 5 - 12 team Roto league - non-keeper

I have been offered 2 trades for Matt Holliday, and I am fine with not making any trade....looking for best fit for my roster.

Trade 1 - Matt Holliday for Danny Espinoza and Josh Johnson
Trade 2 - Matt Holliday and Jordan Zimmerman for David Wright and Wandy Rodriguez

I'd stand pat with Holliday. He's obviously a legit MVP guy, and one worth holding on to, if you're not desperate for help in a particular area or anything like that. Neither of those deals jump out as obvious wins for you, so, I'd err on the side of hanging on to the best player in the group. Thanks for your help on mine.

Personally I like the Johnson trade over the other for you. Chipper is having a nice year holding down your 3b spot and since it's not a keeper then there is no need to go younger. Espinoza is a slight upgrade at 2B for you but only slight and Johnson is amazing, haha. Maybe hold on till Brown comes back up and see how he does. Then try and shop Holliday for a major upgrade somewhere.

First off, don't make the deal for JJ. I'm always a fan of the elite bat over the elite arm, especially an arm with history of being hurt. I may be in the minority but I'd take the wright deal. 1, I don't trust chipper as my 3b all year, and 2. With wright and Holliday pretty even I like getting Wandy as a bonus. No telling who he may be pitching for after the deadline!
