Need major advice on this blockbuster...WHIR as always

Postby CubsFan4Life23 » Fri May 13, 2011 4:46 pm

This guy has been back and forth with me on Miguel Cabrera...I would like all honest opinion on this most recent development...Will return all help given.

He offered
Holliday / Ellsbury / Posey / Lester / Gio Gonzalez

for

my:
Miguel Cabrera / T Hanson / Ogando / Adam Jones

Sounds funny to ask this, but do I accept this offer? We keep 4 players per season (Miguel being the centerpiece of my team for 5 years now)...just want all honest advice, so I can use it to make my decision. I would need to drop 2 players, one to take Hill off of the DL and one to make room, since im getting 5 players for 4.

Currently my team: (12 team H2H keeper (5x5 - OBP replaces AVG) - basic positions with 2 util spots)
Avila
Miguel
Prado
Tulo
Gordon
Rasmus/Choo/JUpton
Berkman (1B/OF)/A Jones
bench - r roberts
DL A Hill and R Zimmerman

SP - Masterson / Danks / Hanson / Ogando / Garza / Kennedy / D Hudson / Cain
Santos / Storen

your lineup looks solid as it is. no one you get is close to miggy's keeper value. i say stay pat. look for other ways to improve sp if that's where you think you need help.

Hmm...Posey has been rock solid and Gio has turned in some good performances for me.

Cabrera is way consistent, though, and Holliday's BABIP is way up, indicating he's been getting kinda lucky and it may not last.

I don't do it. The more players that get added, the more confusing the trade.

Ask yourself "What holes am I filling with this trade", and don't just trade for trading's sake. I don't think he's offering anything compelling that you have to accept.

If he wants Miggy, let him target Miggy, but don't confuse the deal as a 4 for 5 or some such.

Looking for advice on turning my 3B/OF/RP depth into SP help:

I actually would do it. I agree that the more players that are involved the more confusing the deal. But you are receiving some great value for MCab here. You win this trade by a lot in my opinion even though you give up the best player in the deal.

thanks for your help with mine

Togh call, but I actually like it as well. You get Posey, holliday and Lester. Big value. With 4 keepers though, you can't beat Cabrera Tulo Zimmerman as 3. Thanks for your help with mine. As we both know, Miggy is Pujols minus 10 steals and a brain. Stand pat
