Smoak looks to have the most developed power (although we've already seen some blasts from hosmer), I believe smoak and hosmer have the most potential upside, while sanchez is a legitimate underrated 1b.
Sanchez is the safe bet, but I'd pick up Hosmer. He's in the better line up, he's already pulling for power, and he's nabbed a bag, he's the hot choice right now.
Projections are like throwing darts at a wall handcuffed and blindfolded. If you look at both players take at bats, the only concern for hosmer is his k rate, but so far he's kept it 1:1 with his walks.
With hosmers power I believe he will have a good chance of more RBI's and HR's than sanchez, runs are in the air. Honestly, try not to focus on projections as much, they are helpful for drafting if you don't know a player by name, and that's about it.
want to go with smoak because he's at least gone through one struggle phase in the majors. don't know if that's really relevant or not. but smoak's lineup is so awful. and hosmer looks he's got great plate discipline. i think gaby sanchez was underrated coming into the season, but maybe a sell high candidate now.
Hosmer is being compared to Votto, by AL scouts. Impact numbers this year similar to Jason Heyward last year, other scouts said. If you're in a keeper, you have to be going with hosmer, and even if you aren't, I'm sticking with him.
I have Sanchez and Hosmer on my team. I value Sanchez ahead of Hosmer for this season and put Smoak about on the same level as Hosmer. If you had to pick one I think you should pick up Sanchez. He has proven stats, has excelled at every level and consistently bats forth in his order.
