So far we've seen Eric Hosmer as an elite prospect called up and Dominic Brown figures to make a big splash upon his return. Desmond Jennings, Anthony Rizzo, etc are all "top prospects" that I've heard about and figure to be potential "impact players" who will be called up at some point this season... I have yet to hear of many "top pitching prospects" in 2011. In years past we've had hype surrounding Tommy Hanson, Kershaw, Brett Anderson, and even Lincecum and Gallardo a few years back. All of which garnered A LOT of hype and attention as "elite" SPs who were set to be called up during their season. I haven't heard of anyone who fits that "potential" elite SP prospect yet thisyr... The only SPs that I can think of is Alex White & Zach Britton/ Michael Pineda/ Alexi Ogando (but other than White, they all broke with the big clubs). I'm looking for that guy in AAA who is set to debut and create a potential impact, anyone out there have a solid list of these "Potential Elite SPs"??? Or did the Best Arms already break with the big club? (Pineda, Britton, Ogando, Drabek, etc)

There was plenty of buzz about Teheran who is the pitching version of Hosmer at least in terms of prospect status. Chapman as well. As far as who is yet to come, I don't think there is any A+ type prospects left right now that are certain to get the call anytime soon. Duffy for KC has a chance but that might just be for bullpen usage. My biggest target right now would probably be Moore from Tampa.

i heard about some Strasburg fella that may see a bit of action in september..
Moore's a nice K guy. I've also heard grumbles over the course of the season thus far about Kyle Gibson, Jacob Turner, and Jordan Lyles, although I admittedly don't know how close any of them are to a legitimate callup.
Personally, I'm very high on Jameson Taillon, although he won't be up for some time and definitely not this season...

Taillon has the highest ceiling of every arm in the minors including Shelby Millers imo... long wait on this kid but he was touted by many scouts to be the best prep arm to come out since Beckett.
Taillon looks ridiculous in his huge size, plus-plus stuff and pitchability so far as well.
no talks of Julio Teheran? He didn't look too bad in his spot start against the Phillies and he's probably the best pitcher in AAA so far this season. Based on MLB readiness I would rank them...
1-Julio Teheran 2-Jacob Turner 3-Mike Minor 4-Mike Montgomery 5-Kyle Gibson 6-Shelby Miller (guy hasn't pitched above high A yet) 7-Jordan Lyles 8-Martin Perez 9-Danny Duffy 10-Matt Moore 11-Jameson Taillon 12-Alex Cobb 13-Simon Castro 14-Manny Banuelos 15-John Lamb 16-Jarrod Parker 17-Casey Kelly 18-Dellin Betances 19-Chris Archer 20-Trey McNutt -Randall Delgado, Jake Odorizzi, Charles Furbush

Even though he is already up, another guy to keep your eye on is Aaron Crow. It seems like the Royals are trying to stretch him out from the pen and he may be next in line for a rotation spot. It would give them the Royals the opportunity to bring up a Duffy or Montgomery and use them in the bullpen and keep their innings down. Crow didn't blow away minor league hitters but has been dominating so far against the majors. He looked great the other night even the second time through the lineup.
