Starting Pitching Poor - Waiver Suggestions?

Postby JJGBPD » Fri May 13, 2011 10:16 am

I am in a standard 8 team 5x5 head to head league. My starting hitters are stacked but I have sacrificed pitching. I'm looking for suggestions on which pitchers to keep and who to dump and possibly pick up?

C - Miguel Montero
1B - Joey Votto
2B - Howie Kendrick
3B - Michael Young
SS - Hanley Ramirez
OF - Ryan Braun
OF - Matt Holliday
OF - Jay Bruce
UT - Aramis Ramirez
UT - Derek Jeter
BN - Eric Hosmer
DL - Nelson Cruz
DL - Joe Mauer

SP - Shaun Marcum
SP - Jair Jurrjens
SP - C.J. Wilson
P - Michael Pineda
P - Ian Kennedy
P - Brandon Beachy
P - Kyle Lohse
P -
RP - Brian Wilson
RP - Craig Kimbrel
RP - Huston Street

I am looking for thoughts on starting pitching? It's not very good, I know. The best waiver pitchers available are Daniel Hudson, Brandon Morrow, Ted Lilly, Madison Bumgarner, Ervin Santana, Edwin Jackson, Colby Lewis, Justin Masterson, Edison Volquez, Jeremy Hellickson, Homer Bailey and Joel Piniero. I also thought about sticking with the above and just adding another closer like Ryan Madson, Frank Francisco or John Axford. Any advice greatly appreciated!

I'd agree, Daniel Hudson is the right pickup here. You might also be able to trade Jurrins while he's sort of hot. Good luck.

Help if you can:

What the hell? Pick up Morrow or Hellickson. I don't know how anyone could think that Hudson is better than either of those two.

I don't think it is even close. I'd pick up Morrow and be thankful that he's available for free. Fantasy stud!

I also would try to trade JJ for a relief pitcher if you really would like some more depth at RP. Maybe you ccan pull off a JJ plus reliever for upgrade and pick up Hudson as well. To me, that would be ideal.
