injury related I figured this was the forum to post/ask this.

An MRI Thurdsay on Jason Heyward's right shoulder showed no structural damage and only inflammation.
Heyward was administered a cortisone shot and will probably sit idle for another game or two while that injection takes effect. The good news is that he will not require a stint on the disabled list. Heyward, 21, has a .755 OPS, seven homers and 15 RBI.

in simple terms, what does this mean for the rest of this season?
does this mean he will battle this injury all season and likely not put up numbers that would have been expected?
does this mean that this could heal over a short period of time and this season he could still put up the big numbers that would have been expected?

Jason Heyward just came to the plate as a pinch hitter in the 8th. Smoked a rocket to short on the first pitch. Reached first on a bad throw, but the bad throw was in part because he hit the ball so hard it tied up the SS.

The Braves are considering placing Jason Heyward (shoulder) on the disabled list.
Heyward has had issues with his right shoulder dating back to spring training, and it's recently become worse to the point that he's missed a handful of games. It shouldn't be anything that will keep him out long, but it might be wise to sit him out for a couple weeks and hopefully put the injury in the past.

he has been placed on the DL.

Braves placed OF Jason Heyward on the 15-day disabled list with recurring soreness in his right shoulder.
Heyward has had issues with his right shoulder dating back to spring training. It's recently gotten to the point that he's missed a handful of games and the Braves didn't want to move forward with an unplayable outfielder on the roster. Last week Heyward was diagnosed with rotator cuff inflammation in his non-throwing shoulder and given a cortisone shot. Joe Mather will start in right field in Heyward's absence.

any idea what the expectations are once he returns? can he take 2 weeks off and completely heal?

with the production he's provided thus far, its actually benefitting my team to have him on the DL
