Add which SP? WHIR

Postby lbblue » Thu May 12, 2011 12:59 pm

12 team 6 x 6 roto

I'm lagging a bit in Ws and am looking to pick up someone from the wire to help with Ws while not killing me in other categories. I'm going to drop Scott Baker, who has been decent this year (but was bad yesterday) but isn't likely to help pick up many Ws in Minny right now. Here some interesting names from the wire. Who do you like best and why, considering that whoever I grab will likely be churned for someone else before long?

W. Davis
E. Volquez
C. Zambrano
B. Colon
E. Jackson
J. Hammel
C. Morton

Davis or sadly enough Colon. Both have looked pretty good so far this year. In this kind of situation, I would consider playing matchups though. Look to see who is playing the worse team or is in the better situation and pick them up.

I think I would get Colon. He is the best bet for W's right now and isn't pitching too badly.

Yeah, I was almost embarrassed to even put Colon on the list of people that I'm considering but the results have been there so far. It will be interesting see what happens with the investigation on the surgery he had in the offseason, though.

I currently have a waiver claim in for Davis which will process late tonight but I figured I'd get some feedback on the other options in case someone made a more compelling case for someone else. This is basically a SP slot that I plan on churning fairly regularly unless someone consistently pitches well enough to keep around for a while.

Thanks for the help with mine.

I'd go with Davis and then Jackson. I have always felt Jackson had what it took to be an ace, and i wouldnt be at all surprised if he was very solid the rest of the way. That definitely does not go for Colon. A few good starts does not make a solid season after years away from being useful.

personally i'd roll with Colon.....he's been solid, and pitchers that perform OK tend to rack up wins on that squad (look at AJ Burnett)
