Looking for a decent FA OF pickup --- Got opinions? -- WHIR

Postby Bolthead04 » Thu May 12, 2011 12:11 am

So, I've given up on seeking a trade of pitchers for OF. I am now looking to add an OF or two off the WW, and am considering who to drop. I'll be happy to hear all opinions and I WHIR 100% before the end of each day. I usually check my stuff before hitting the hay.

My team...

The league is 12 team H2H.

Batters Stat Categories: Runs (R), Home Runs (HR), Runs Batted In (RBI), Stolen Bases (SB), Batting Average (AVG), On Base Percent (OBP)
Pitchers Stat Categories: Wins (W), Saves (SV), Strikeouts (K), Earned Run Average (ERA), (Walks + Hits)/ Innings

C - Brian McCann
1B - Albert Pujols
2B - Dustin Pedroia
3B - Ryan Roberts
SS - Alexi Ramirez
OF - Jason Werth
OF - Carlos Quentin
OF - Jeff Francouer
Util - Lance Berkman
BN - Mike Aviles
BN - Angel Pagan
DL - Ryan Zimmerman

SP - Shaun Marcum
SP - Matt Cain
RP - Francisco Cordero
RP - Ryan Madson
P - John Axford
P - Michael Pineda
P - Ricky Nolasco
BN - Jhoulys Chacin
BN - Brandon Beachy
BN - Mat Latos
BN - Bud Norris

I am looking particularly at ...

Coghlan
Crisp
Joyce (I'd really rather not...)
Bourjos
Hosmer as a util?
Dominic Brown?
Brantley

Really, the only one I would think could be a serious pickup is Coghlan, who has been doing very well in the top of the Marlins order. His shoulder issues concern me, which is why I hadn't picked him up YET. However, he continues to impress, and I feel if I don't grab him before the weekend, someone else will.

I'd consider dropping Beachy, as he was my most recent (and expendable) FA pickup when I thought I had a P for OF deal cemented. It fell through, so I have one too many.

As I said, if you have any thoughts, please share. :-b I'd be happy to hear what you have to say. Thanks!

Don't drop Beachy. Get Hosmer over Pagan.

Hosmer is the hot choice, there will be some rough stretches but the kid is an amazing talent. Gotta agree with Hootie, add Hosmer, dump Pagan.

Hosmer would be the one to speculatively add. Pagan may take too long to come back if Hosmer gets hot he won't be available when pagan comes off the DL.

Hosmer would have to be in UTIL though, which would mean you think he's better than whichever happens to be my 4th worst OF?

Should I drop Pagan AND Beachy for Coghlan AND Hosmer?

Edit - Picked up Hosmer for Pagan. Still considering Beachy for Coghlan (or even Ryan Roberts....)

8 SP's is way too many though, and I can't seem to get a deal done. But I don't want to toss a good pitcher... Ah well. :P

That's the kind of poor offer I get. :P

And considering I'm trying to move Cain + 1.... *sighs*
