What starting pitcher should I drop?

Postby cjd1167 » Wed May 11, 2011 9:22 am

Hi all, I'm new to the site...just discovered it with a google search for "fantasy baseball questions". I'm fairly experienced at fantasy baseball, and I'd be happy to assist others with their questions as well!

I'm in a 10-team H2H ESPN league, 6x6 (standard 5x5 plus OPS for hitters and QS for pitchers).

I'd like to drop a starting pitcher in order to free up a flexible roster spot.
What are your thoughts on who I should drop between Liriano, Ogando, Bumgarner, Norris and Hellickson?

Thanks!

Liriano isnt looking like hes going to get out of this slump any time soon, and in most leagues wont be picked back up if traded. Hellickson is ok right now, but I think he is more likely to start playing up to his potential, and if this is a keeper league then he should be kept. Ogando and Norris are better than average, and look like breakouts this yr, so Id hold onto them unless they go into a 4-5 game slump. Just for curiosities sake, who is available in the FA pool that you would be picking up?

I dropped Liriano today. Out of those pitchers I would drop Hellickson or Bumgarner.
I can't imagine having to deal with those kind of pitchers in a 10 team league though. :-b

Thanks for the feedback guys.

Our league is not keeper, and the other unusual pitching category is that we use Saves+Holds instead of Saves. So closers do not have much value. Since we use W & QS, I've decided to essentially abandon SV+HD and stock up on starting pitching (no IP limit either). In additon to the pitchers I mentioned, I also have Halladay, Ubaldo, Brett Anderson, Danks, Romero, Pineda, and Wandy.

Right now I have no hitters on the bench, so I'd like to pick someone up - for today, D Wright is getting the day off, so I'll pick up someone who I may or may not keep long-term (probably Corey Hart, who just became available. Aaron Hill is also available).

If you gotta drop someone, go Norris or Bum. I don't think we should be dropping Liri at this point. Trading him yes, but not stone cold dropping him.

Either Bumgarner or Norris (in that order)
