I gave: Miguel Montero Jimmy Rollins Carl Crawford Max Scherzer Jordan Walden Brandon Leauge Ryan Madson
I got: Felix Hernandez Troy Tulowitzki Brian McCann Eric Hosmer Pablo Sandoval Logan Morrison
Basically, I felt like I was wasting three closers on my bench that I could leverage for upgrades at other positions, so I traded away my depth for those upgrades. Good move or bad move?
I think you scored. Felix and Tulo are the 2 best players in that deal and you get them. I almost would say that deal would be fine even if you only got Felix, Tulo and McCann.
Larry - "Who's this? Who are you?" Crash Davis - "I'm the player to be named later."
As others have stated, you got the two best players in the deal in Tulo and Felix, however I really like the additional players you received. McCann, Sandoval, Hosmer, and LoMo. All 6 of the players you received in that deal can make a big impact on your team. Relief options can be had a dime a dozen, and giving up Scherzer, Crawford, and Rollins for that bunch is a steal!!!
yeah, generally I really don't like big trades because I believe trades are made to accomplish a roster goal... something more tangible than "get better"... such as I need SB and I have SV to spare. Big trades are often just made for the purpose of making a trade... which I personally feel is a bad idea. In this case however, you got more top players, and generally that means you win. It's hard to say of course without looking in detail at your roster and league rules, but usually the team getting the best player wins in my books.
