Looking to grab a SP and all 3 of the following are starting today (can add today and plug into lineup right away) and will have a 2-start week. So, in a NON-keeper league, who do you like best this week & the rest of the year:
Jason Hammel (COL) vs. Mets today Homer Bailey (CIN) @ HOU today Colby Lewis (TEX) vs. OAK today
Maybe Lewis. He's no ace but in a QS league his value increases somewhat and his matchup today looks good. He's worth keeping around all season, but with a short leash. Bailey is probably a sexier option for the rest of the season, but that's more of the risk/reward type. It depends on what you want, someone who won't hurt you, or someone that could hurt you or could be a star. Hammel is a non-factor in this discussion, as far as I'm concerned.
Bailey against an even weaker Houston offense...... Houston's got Myers going out, Reds like hitting him, Oakland's got Anderson pitching against Lewis, like the match up in Houston a lot better.
Yikes. That staff is a real boom or bust crew outside of the top 2. Honestly it is so volatile anyways I don't see any reason not to just go with Bailey. What harm can he really do? This board is trending towards Bailey but don't be hesitant to drop him if he starts his crap pitching again. Like I said before, add Bailey but keep a short leash.
I agree its between Bailey and Colby Lewis, I think I would actually go with Bailey this week... Call me crazy but I would actually prefer Bailey and Colby Lewis to both Volquez at this point... Good Luck!
