Pedro Alvarez worth a pickup?

Postby juliown1028 » Mon May 09, 2011 1:10 pm

Pedro Alvarez was just dropped in my 12 team league and he's available for pick up. What do you guys think, is he worth the addition to my team? If he is, I'd possibly trade away Kinsler for a starting pitcher and move Young to 2B.

12 Team 5x5 H2H
C: V. Martinez (1B,C)
1B: L. Berkman (1B,OF)
2B: I. Kinsler (2B)
3B: M. Young (2B,3B)
SS: J. Lowrie (2B,3B,SS)
OF: M. Kemp (OF)
OF: H. Pence (OF)
OF: A. Soriano (OF)
Util: C. Young (OF)
Util: C. Crawford (OF)
DL. R. Furcal (SS)

SP: D. Haren (SP)
SP: F. Carmona (SP)
RP: F. Francisco (RP)
RP: S. Santos(RP)
P: S. Marcum (RP)
P: V. Padilla (SP,RP)
P: B. Norris (SP)
BN: C. Billingsley (SP)
BN: B. Beachy (SP)
BN. M. Scherzer (SP)

I don't think you have anyone worth dropping for him. Only way I would pick him up is if you could bench him until he figures things out. No way do I try and start him right now and again I don't see anyone I would drop.

I agree. Alvarez could turn things around and grant a nice boon to an owner willing to take the risk, but I don't see anyone I'd drop for him at this point. I'd keep an eye on him though, and perhaps drop Padilla if/when he loses his value as a closer.

The only guy I'd think you could drop --- and this would hurt you short term and maybe help you long term --- is Padilla. But it's hard to drop a guy getting saves for a struggling bat. Only do it if you think you could swing Alvarez for something great later.

help me out?
