How to lure Brian Wilson or Leo Nunez in trade? WHIR

Postby RUnited » Mon May 09, 2011 5:23 am

So our league gives 6pts for a save and a great closer can easily finish top 15 in points among all pitchers at the end of the season.

Here's my team:

C Montero, 1B M Cab, 2B Pedroia, 3B Beltre, SS Rollins, OF Crawford, Bautista, Victorino. Bench C Avila, OF Choo

Pitchers:

SP Masterson, Ubaldo, Chachin, De La Rosa, Weaver, Jaime Garcia, CJ Wilson
RP Marmol, Street, Feliz, Madson

So as you can see, Madson is my weak link. He's not full time closer and I'm trying to lure either Nunez or Wilson from the other team.

Who should I offer up? Keeping in mind that Wilson or Nunez can finish the season as high, or higher than the likes of CJ Wilson and Chachin. I don't mind to give up one of my pitchers but can't decide who to offer.

WHIR as always.

Thanks for your help!

If this league values closers higher than usual, you may have to give up something good. in my league closers are cheap. nobody really puts too much into them. i think Neftali Feliz went for 11 bucks because he was looking like a possible SP before the season, but thats the highest the closer price went.

If he needs hitting, start with offering Rollins possibly? its hard to think up a deal not knowing this guys team needs.

If he needs a SP, offer Garcia or CJ Wilson?

although im unfamiliar with how to value an elite closer in a league that puts extra value on them.

Thanks for your input on this. Let's put it this way, Marmol finished higher than Felix on pts last year if you played Felix every game.

If you're good, you can choose not to play your pitchers on certain days and avoid a negative point. Unfortunately I'm a rookie and I'd rather get the fixed points from the closers.

Here's his team:

Santana
Gonzalez
Neil walker
Casey mcghee
Alexei ramirez
Mccutchen
Berkman
Young
Ortiz
Uggla
Upton
Jeff fracouer

Scherzer
Beckett
Greinke
Buchholz
Jonathan sanchez
Francisco liriano

Brian wilson
Nunez
