I have Miguel Montero and Matt Wieters on my team and my god have I made some serious blunders.
I'm quite impatient and I switch these guys whenever they have bad days. Result? Not so pretty, I've got 30pts total from these two while they each have 60 pts. Basically I keep using them on their off days...
Now I spotted Alex Avila in the free agent pool and thinking if I should dive in.
I could trade Wieters for a low grade pitcher (there are guys on my league who are great fans of Wieters and may do a one for one deal with their second ranked SP), and pick up Avila and make him a starter.
seems well thought out to me weiters alexie rameriez these are all guys weve been waiting for them to turn into the super stars in the making they were labelled not to many leagues have alex avilla left go get him quickly
I like all three but if I had to go with one I'd go with Avila. Montero and Wieters are the safer option but it looks like Avila's got some pop and he's probably going to get enough playing time from Vmart DHing on most days. i'd definitely drop one to pick up Avila if you can't make room by trading one.
I think I'll be playing Avila for the time being. His RBI/Runs/HR/SB productions are all higher than Montero and Wieters. He strikes out more, but hopefully he'll make up for it because he plays in a line up with more help. I've also got Miguel Cabrera, so this gives a nice one two punches.
He was platooning early in the year so it might make sense to sub Montero in on days that Avila faces a lefthander. It looks like he is playing against some now however.
I still think that Montero will outproduce Avila but it could be pretty close.
I'm running with Montero for now, but he's not been very good.
Avila's got an indecisive manager who hasn't confirmed who's the number one catcher. I live in thailand games are played at 6 or 7am. I have to make a guess each night if Avila's going to play or not. Not ideal for me...
