Pick up a 2B, 3B, or OF?

Postby dcs315 » Sat May 07, 2011 8:56 pm

To get things started I'm in a 10 team ESPN H2H league here are my current roster/positions:

C: G Soto (ChC)
1B: B Butler (KC)
2B: F Sanchez (SF)
3B: E Longoria (TB)
SS: A Cabrera (Cle)
OF: C Young (AZ)
OF: A Ether (LAD)
OF: J Ellsbury (Bos)
OF: D Stubbs (Cin)
OF: A Gordon (KC)
1B/3B: 1B P Fielder (Mil)
2B/SS: SS S Drew (AZ)
Util: SS Y Escobar (Tor)
Be: 2B D Uggla (Atl)
Be: EMPTY

Here's the rundown: I'm carrying 2 first basemen, 2 second basemen (but Uggla's not producing so I don't mind carrying another one until he is), 3 shortstops, and only 1 third baseman. I'm very much open to dropping a SS and picking up an extra (to fill the empty slot) for an OF, 3B, 2B, or even 1B.
Here are the top players (with~80 AB so far this season and an avg of 2.5 pts so far this season) in each position.
OF: Franceour (KC), Roberts (AZ), M Cabrera (KC), Fuld (TB), Coughlan (Fla), and Smith (Col)
1B/3B: Aviles (KC, 3B), Roberts (AZ, 3B), Smoak (Sea, 1B), Helton (Col, 1B), Hannahan (Cle, 3B), LaPorta (Cle, 1B), Betemit (KC, 1B), and Callaspo (LAA, 3B)
2B/SS: Aviles (KC, 2B), Herrera (Col, 2B), Barney (ChC), Lowrie (Bos), Getz (KC, 2B), and O Cabrera (Cle)

I think Franceour will cool down, Roberts will get semi-steady playing time as a utility guy but I'm not sure he'll keep it up, Helton seems like he's back, Barney and Lowrie are doing great but it's unexpected.

So what do you all think? Who should I try to plug into my lineup?

I'd go with Aviles or Smoak...love Avile's versatility and that lineup is hot right now...Smoak I think is primed for a 20 plus homer year.

Aviles for the versatility and the Royals are still hot so you the added runs and RBI's will be a good addition.

I agree 100 percent with this.

It's no fluke with Aviles. I dropped Beckham for him and I don't regret it.
