Jimenez, can he come back?

Postby Acholder » Fri May 06, 2011 8:55 pm

Well my first question of the day is can Jimenez come back and be anything close to what he was last year?

Jimenez is sporting 12 points in my league in which you get .5 for a 1/3 of an inning, 1 point for a K, 7 for a win and 3 for a QS, but ER -1, Hits -.25 and BB are -.5.

I am in an 8 keeper 12 team head to head points league with a weekly lock. My pitching has basically either died or just not shown up. I kept Buchholz Jimenez Cain and Anderson as 4 of my 8 keepers. My offense is fine but I am 1-3 with a really close match up this week and it always seems to me that my pitching is letting me down. We start 8 Pitchers (can be SP or RP) and no caps on starts or innings.

I just feel like to have a shot this year which I am only 1 game back of the playoff hunt if I win this week I need to get more pitching depth. Another team from the other division has expressed interest in Jimenez but sent me a really bad offer of Lowe Dice K and Hughes. I dont think I can accept that at all unless I think I am missing something. But I wanted to counter back Jimenez and Fuentes (he has Bailey on the DL) for Bumgarner Britton Lowe and Hughes.

My Pitching right now is (you will laugh I had a terrible draft and every guy I wanted went a pick or 2 in front of me and I also won the league last year so had to give up draft picks to do that too)

Jimenez, Fuentes, Buchholz, Anderson, Cain, McCarthy, Marquis, Chen, Soria, Putz, Aardsma Contreras, Broxton, Blanton and Aneury Rodriguez (on a double next week for Houston) (We have 2 DL spots and I would probably just drop Contreras and put Broxton into that spot.

Clearly I had closers like Franklin Thorton dropped Capps and went on the RP run because our pitching set up was new and it looked solid for closer just happened all the good ones feel in front of me. Saves 7 points with Blown Saves -2.

Any opinions? Will reply back to yours if I can help!

"can Jimenez come back"
YES! And he will. He's too good not to. Stay with him. Or I'll trade you for him.

It seems like his mechanics are back, but not that consistent yet.

Had a mixed bag his last outing, but I have no doubt he'll be a top pitcher within the next few starts.

And you can't go wrong with a Rockies' pitcher this year. Their offence usually bail them out.
