Drop Chapman for Melancon? WHIR!!

Postby BiGAnT » Fri May 06, 2011 5:38 pm

I only have two true closers right now, in Walden and League, and I am not sure whether Chapman has any shot of taking over the closer role at any point in time this season, so would dropping him for Melancon be a good or bad move? Does anyone think Melancon will keep the closer job, and does he have good enough stuff to drop for Chapman, since Chapman is a good source of Ks? I could drop Brett Wallace instead, b/c I don't really use him that often..thoughts? Thanks! :-)

Melancon is one of those closers that is a couple of blown saves away from losing his job. Chapman gives you K's, ERA, WHIP and occasionally W's. I'd say Chapman is more valuable

Melancon is an unknown and may blow up like Lyon did (unless you want to take the risk on boostering up your relief (SV) pitchers like I did.) I think that it will be a closer-by-committee when its all said and done and Melancon will try to run with the job first (til Lyon gets back, and IF he reclaims the job). At least with Chapman, there is more upside/more job security by far (even though he has struggled lately).
