Zimmerman Replacement

Postby TrippySG » Fri May 06, 2011 1:49 pm

So now that Zimm is gone for awhile, who should be my 3B replacement. I picked up Sandoval off FA list, I can afford the room to wait and see if he comes back playing well, but thatll be awhile too. Here are the top replacements available:

Mark Reynolds
Ian Stewart
Jack Hannahan

Delmon Young is also available.

Should I drop Fuld for one of these guys? Young is still on the DL, and wasnt playing well before he went on it. Reynolds is slumping, but is the highest ranked one here and always can hit HR at any moment. The low Avg wont hurt too much because the rest of my team hits well.

I'd probably pick Reynolds out of that group. Like you said, his average won't be great but he'll probably put up 30-35 homers. I think he's good enough until your other 2 guys get back at least.

Agreed on the Reynolds comment. I'm a Reynolds owner, and while his BA is still in the toilet he's actually been putting some production on the table. I'm thinking he may finally be coming around, so this is a buy low opportunity.

And drop Fuld... hero to zero, he has no place on your roster at this point. If you play guys like Fuld you need to keep stringing in the hot prospects, and his time has past.

I'd pick between Hannahan and Reynolds. I lean slightly on Reynolds because you obviously need someone who produces immediately. In the long run (6 weeks) you'll have Zimmerman back in the team.

I agree to drop Fuld. He's turned into a pumpkin already so soon...

Agreed with dropping Fuld, what's wrong with Roberts manning the hot corner? I'd look for some outfield depth if I were you. but if your intent on picking up another I'd have to say Reynolds.

Now please help me....viewtopic.php?t=429722

Reynolds is your best bet. 6 weeks of bad AVG can be made up by 3.5 months(14 weeks) of good AVG left from Zimmerman.

And ya its time to drop Fuld. There is someone worth waiting on on the FA wire if Sandoval was there i bet (Hosmer? D.Barney? even V.Wells would be better imo for a bench spot). Fuld has dropped off the map, I traded him and a hot Benoit for a hurt Grady Sizemore the day Fuld hit for the cycle and I've been smiling ever since.
Larry - "Who's this? Who are you?"
Crash Davis - "I'm the player to be named later."

Definitely pick up Reynolds. He will put up big power numbers but kill you with ks and avg. But, I really like him the most out of your options.
