Hosmer Called Up!

Postby sigriffey » Thu May 05, 2011 5:57 pm

In return for all your help with my many trade questions lately, I just want to let you guys know I just saw Hosmer has been called up.

If you want a flier on a power hitting 1B with average, take a shot on him.

Sorry if this is old news. But seems like CBS just posted it.

Good Luck!

I quickly picked him up but naturally, do not know what I will get out of him? What should us new Hosmer owners expect from here on out? Most speculation I was reading said Hosmer had no chance of being called up until June the earliest...well...he is here a bit premature by cafe standards so let's hear some chatter ;-D

I have no doubt there are owners on these boards in deep dynasty leagues with far deeper knowledge of his skill set, but my understanding is that Hosmer has demonstrated a tremendous bat vs. both RHP and LHP, is walking a bit more than he is striking out, has hit 3 homers to go along with 3 sbs, and last year clubbed 20 homers with a .330+ batting average over two minor league levels. I've heard .280/15 thrown out there, which sounds like nothing special, but that may be more of a tentative floor and I also wouldn't be surprised if he did a heck of a lot more.

I like the direction the Royals are going in.

They have one of, if not, THE highest ranked farm systems in baseball right now.

Give him a shot. Heck, the Giants did it with Belt. I think Hosmer will be good, but only if you are in a dynasty/keeper league.

H2H, not so much, unless you're feeling lucky and have a lot of teams battling.

Help with mine, please? :-) viewtopic.php?f=26&t=429664
